Course Program

Starting from T.S. Eliot's essay "The Metaphysical Poets" (1921), moving on to John Donne's "Death's Duell" and the late Shakespeare of Antony and Cleopatra, and encountering Emily Dickinson on the same path, we will approach Marianne Moore and Elizabeth Bishop in order to reflect on the metaphysical quality of their poetry, thus interrogating the very essence of the poetical.
